Today is the BIG day!!!  As I cruised around the Lake this morning, I am anticipating this weekend to be the BIGGEST Lake Bikefest yet!  Vendor Villages were setting up first thing this morning, local restaurants and bars have their "Bikers Welcome" signs out and the rumbling of motorcycles can be heard all around the Lake. This event truly is a "group effort" that takes a lot of support from local businesses. Motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the United States will be rumbling their way to Lake of the Ozarks September 12-15 for the 7th annual Lake of the Ozarks BikeFest ! This area offers some of the Nation’s most scenic rides around the Lake of the Ozarks and through the rolling Ozark hills with spectacular views. In addition to over one hundred biker-friendly bars, restaurants, hotels and campgrounds. During the Bikefest, the center lane of the Bagnell Dam Strip will be reserved for "motorcycle parking only" from Thursday morning until Sunday evening during the event. DJ Leo Case will be providing music and event announcements all day Saturday, with speakers set up along the Strip. Many of the bars and restaurants will have music, special events, beer gardens etc. during Bikefest. Also, a number of vendors will be set up at various locations along the Strip. The Noble Eagles, along with Beavers at the Dam, Lake Ozark Harley Davidson, Jim Beam, and the Benne Media Group will be conducting the 3rd Annual National Beef Jerky contest at Beavers at the Dam on Saturday, September 14th. Entry of beef jerky into the event is free. There will be three categories judged: Traditional jerky Spicy jerky Alternative jerky In each category, someone will go home with the title “The Nation’s Best Beef Jerky”! Entrants need to be at Beavers at the Dam by 1:30 p.m. the day of the event, with check-in at 2:00 p.m. Judging is at 3:30 p.m. sharp, with results announced at 4:30 p.m. The 2012 event had over 30 entries and in excess of 1,000 spectators. Once again in 2013, live music will be on site, and the public is urged to attend and sample some of the nation’s best beef jerky! The week of June 14th is designated as National Flag Week and Flag Day is celebrated on June 14th.  This date was set aside to commemorate the adoption of the United States Flag in 1777.   In 1916 President Woodrow Wilson issued the proclamation that officially established June 14 as Flag Day and in 1949, National Flag Day was established by Congress.  However, Flag Day is not an “official” federal holiday and it is at the President's discretion to officially proclaim the observance.  In 1937, Pennsylvania declared Flag Day a state holiday During National Flag Week, the President will typically issue a proclamation encouraging U.S. citizens to fly the American flag.
