11 Interesting Motorcycle World Records
Have you ever wondered how big the largest motorcycle is? Or the fastest speed achieved on a motorcycle? Lake Bikefest has the answers! Here are some interesting motorcycle records from the Guinness Book of World Records:
1. The tallest rideable motorcycle measures 16 ft. 8.78 in tall from the ground to the top of the handlebars. It was constructed by Fabio Reggiani (Italy), and the motorcycle was ridden over a 100-m course at Montecchio Emilia, Italy, on March 24, 2012.
2. The heaviest motorcycle is the Harzer Bike Schmiede, built by Tilo and Wilfried Niebel of Zilly, Germany, which weighed 10,,470 lbs. At 17 ft 4 in long and 7 ft 6 in tall, and powered by a Russian tank engine, the bike took a team of mechanics and welders almost a year to construct.
3. Tom Wiberg of Sweden built the smallest motorcycle in the world, with a front wheel diameter of 0.62 in and a rear wheel diameter of 0.86 in. He rode it for more than 32.8 feet in Hokerum, Sweden in 2003. it has a wheelbase of 3.14 in, a seat height of 2.55 in and is powered to a top speed of 1.24 mph by its 0.3 hp engine.
4. The largest parade of Harley-Davidson motorcycles consisted of 2,404 motorcycles and was achieved by Roberto Macdonald, The RRiders and the Harley-Davidson Club Hellas in Patra, Greece on May 22, 2010. The distance covered by the parade was 2.8 miles.
5. The longest journey by motorcycle in a single country is 48,600 miles and was achieved by Danell Lynn of the Phoenix, who rode throughout the United States of America from September 19, 2014 to August 29, 2015.
6. The longest motorcycle ramp jump, at 351 ft, was achieved by Robbie Maddison in Australia on March 29, 2008.
7. Rocky Robinson of the USA broke the record for the fastest land speed on a motorcycle on September 25, 2010. Robinson achieved an average speed of 376.363 mph over 0.6 miles at Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah, USA.
8. The record for the longest motorcycle burnout was achieved by Joe Dryden at Orlando Speed World in Florida, measuring 2.23 miles.
9. The record for the longest standing jump on a motorcycle is 13 ft 11 in and is held by Michele Pradelli of Italy. She achieved the record in Milan, Italy on April 25, 2009. The distance was measured from platform to platform and the jump required a standing start.
10. Tommy Clowers of Ramona, California, USA, achieved a motorcycle jump height of 25 ft from the top of a 10 ft ramp after a run up of 40 ft at Van Nuys Airport in California on January 21, 2001.
11. The most motorcycle backflips in 30 seconds is eight by Travis Pastana of the USA. He achieved it on November 17, 2008 at Godfrey Trucking/Rocky Mountain Raceway in Salt Lake City, Utah.
