Here are six tips for women and men alike to make riding your favorite way to take a trip.
Missouri's best motorcycle event loves the women who ride with us! We all have an awesome time coming together in September to celebrate the bike life, and anyone who has joined us knows it's true! September 17th is coming up fast, and before you know it we'll all be packing our belongings onto our favorite two wheels and reuniting with old and new friends at our favorite Bikefest at the Lake of the Ozarks! May the road rise up to meet you and the wind always at your back.
1. Dress For the Ride
No matter whether you shop online or in a store, make sure your gear fits great. An item that fits great in the store may not even fit the same when you're in the riding position, so make sure to take the your clothing for a "test ride". You may not be able to actually ride around in your clothes before purchasing, but you can stretch in them to get an idea how they might feel. Ill-fitting clothes can make a huge difference in the way you maneuver your bike.2. Always Keep Learning
Many states offer riding classes for beginners and advanced riders alike. Before taking any long journey there is nothing wrong with refreshing your mind with the important things you need to know. You may also be able to take an off-road course should you decide to take your bike on an off road adventure. The course can prepare you in case you get caught in an unexpected situation.3. Pack Light
No matter how you travel, packing light is a wonderful way to keep from carrying your whole house with you. When traveling on a bike you have even less space than when you're in your car, so space is vital to a comfortable ride. Whether your taking a long trip where you need changes of clothes, toiletries, maps, snacks, a camera and even camping gear; or a short trip where you just need yourself and a helmet, the way you pack will impact you trip. Just don't overdo it by packing too much.4. Learn the Basics
An adventure always involves something going wrong, it's not pessimistic, just another aspect of the journey! If you are prepared for some of the common occurrences you can save yourself some trouble. Carrying some spare parts and a manual can never be considered a bad thing. If you know how to fix some of the common problems such as a gas issue, dead battery or light outage on your own that's great, but you can save yourself some hassle if you know of local service providers in the area you'll be traveling.5. Know Where You're Going
You can have your entire trip planned out in advance, but there is nothing wrong with looking over it again for assurance in where you're going. Knowing the weather forecast can also help in preparing you for having the right gear ready for the day. Other than that, be open to serendipity and flexibility; you may find fun people you want to travel with, or get a tip on an amazing landmark that you just MUST see on the way!6. Just Say Yes
Don't let anyone intimidate you into thinking you can't ride, travel and enjoy a fantastic journey! Whether you're planning a trip on you're own, or going with a group, be confident in your ability to handle anything the road may throw your way!Missouri's best motorcycle event loves the women who ride with us!
