Honoring the United State Flag on June 14th

The week of June 14th is designated as National Flag Week and Flag Day is celebrated on June 14th.  This date was set aside to commemorate the adoption of the United States Flag in 1777.

In 1916 President Woodrow Wilson issued the proclamation that officially established June 14 as Flag Day and in 1949, National Flag Day was established by Congress.  However, Flag Day is not an “official” federal holiday and it is at the President's discretion to officially proclaim the observance.  In 1937, Pennsylvania declared Flag Day a state holiday

During National Flag Week, the President will typically issue a proclamation encouraging U.S. citizens to fly the American flag.

We encourage all of our friends to honor the United States Flag this week!!
